Gina Segura
La churry
Gina Segura, ‘La Churry’, born in Barcelona, has been walking on stage with her nose for years. A Higher Technician in Artistic Photography, one day she decided to stop freezing moments and start creating and sharing them. She began her career at the age of 17, climbing on the stage of a children’s playground in Barcelona, which has been her school for 23 years.
In 2011 she starts training as a clown, choosing teachers such as: Jango Edwards, Gardi Hutter, Leo Bassi, Paolo Nani, Catherine Germain, Christophe Tellier, Pepa Plana, Elise Ouvrier-Buffet and Fanny Guiraud among others.
In 2021, she consolidates her company, La Churry, with the premiere of ‘S.O.S.’, and continues her clowning research in 2022 with the premiere of ‘Wooooow! In 2023, she co-creates ‘El Placer de mi Vida’ (The Pleasure of my Life) with the Magranes cooperative, and forms part of the company La Trena Circ, with which she premieres her street circus show ‘Ex-quisito’ (Exquisite) in 2022.
She is a member of associations such as: Payasos Sin Fronteras (Clowns Without Borders), Asociación de payasos y payasas, Barcelona. La Fàbrica de Somnis, circus and climbing association, Vic-Barcelona. Associació Professionals de Circ de Catalunya, as a member of the Committee. Colectivo de Artistas de Calle Tàrrega Off, as part of the driving group. Amavida ONGD, international cooperation organisation for children, driving group.
Soon she will be part of the team of ‘Pallapupas’, as a hospital clown in Catalan territory.
And she continues on her way, dodging the stones,
on which she draws smiles!
